Coke Oven WWTP

Between 2006 and 2007, the ZKS Dillingen coke oven plant in Germany tested the Mutag BioChip™ for nitrification with support from MUTAG. Since 2008, the plant has used the BioChip™ continuously, treating wastewater at a flow rate of Q = 1,440 m³/d, improving environmental sustainability and operational efficiency.

Nitrification Success at ZKZ Dillingen

Between 2006 and 2007, the ZKS Dillingen coke oven plant in Germany conducted successful pilot testing of the MUTAG BioChip™ for nitrification, supported by engineering expertise from MUTAG.

This testing phase refined the plant's two-step biological treatment using MBBR technology, enhanced post-denitrification and post-aeration processes, and optimized chemical storage and handling protocols. Since 2008, the plant has continuously operated with the MUTAG BioChip™, processing wastewater at a volume flow rate of Q = 1,440 m³/d.

This sustained implementation underscores the technology's reliability and effectiveness in wastewater treatment, contributing to improved environmental sustainability and operational efficiency within the facility.
